Why SOTI MobiControl for the Logistics Sector?

In logistics and industrial environments, mobile devices such as PDAs, mobile computers, and rugged tablets form the backbone of daily operations. When a scanner fails in the warehouse or a tablet in a forklift loses connectivity, workflows come to an immediate halt. To ensure full control and maximum uptime, a robust device management solution is essential. That is where SOTI MobiControl makes the difference

As a Mobile Managed Service Provider, Reverse IT recognizes SOTI MobiControl as the global standard for organizations that rely on flawlessly operating hardware in demanding environments.

1. Fast deployment with Zero-Touch Enrollment

In a dynamic logistics environment, new hardware needs to be operational immediately. With SOTI MobiControl, we automate the entire staging process:

SOTI MobiControl Stage: With a simple barcode scan, the device automatically retrieves all necessary settings. This is ideal for environments where complex network connections are not available.
Android Zero-Touch: For large-scale deployments, the correct configurations, firmware settings, and work applications are automatically pushed as soon as the device connects to the internet for the first time.
Added Value: This not only eliminates manual steps and human errors but also ensures your fleet is up-to-date within minutes, whether you’re managing 10 or 1,000 PDAs.

Maximum focus with Lockdown & Kiosk Mode

A PDA in the hands of an order picker should do exactly what it’s designed for: scanning and processing data. With SOTI’s Lockdown functionality, we create a fully restricted environment (Kiosk Mode) tailored specifically to user tasks.

Customized user Interface: Users see only the apps they actually need, such as the WMS or ERP client. All other settings, like the browser or system configurations, are hidden.
Security & Cost Efficiency: This prevents employees from accidentally changing settings or using unauthorized apps. It also optimizes battery life and reduces unnecessary data usage by disabling background processes.
Added value: Productivity is increased, the risk of security breaches is minimized, and the learning curve for new employees is significantly reduced.

3. Remote support: Minimizing downtime in the warehouse

Every minute a warehouse employee can’t scan costs money, and a malfunctioning device can slow down an entire process. Thanks to SOTI’s advanced Remote Control features, we can resolve issues while the employee remains on the shop floor.

Live viewing: Reverse IT specialists can view the PDA or tablet screen in real time. We can take control of the device to immediately adjust settings or analyze error messages.
Advanced diagnostics: We can remotely push files, run scripts, and read system logs. This allows us to identify problems, such as a dropped Wi-Fi connection or a frozen application, in real time.
Added value: This is crucial for 24/7 operations. It prevents costly shipping and repair times; in over 90% of cases, a device doesn’t need to be physically returned to the IT department.

Technical Deep Dive: Android Enterprise & OEMConfig

The real advantage for logistics companies lies in the transition to Android Enterprise. SOTI MobiControl offers unprecedented capabilities through OEMConfig, allowing us to manage hardware-specific parameters on premium devices from brands like Zebra, Honeywell, and Datalogic—settings that remain inaccessible in other MDM systems.

What we configure for you:

Scanner Engine Configuration: Fine-tune the sensitivity, illumination, and feedback (beep/vibrate) of barcode scanners remotely for specific barcodes in your warehouse.
Battery Health: Gain real-time insight into charge cycles to proactively replace batteries before they fail during a shift.
Wi-Fi Persistence: Advanced scripts ensure devices maintain stronger connections with access points in large warehouses (roaming settings).

Control in your organization

SOTI MobiControl ensures that your mobile hardware becomes a reliable part of your logistics chain. It lowers the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and increases operational efficiency by removing technical barriers.

Frequently asked questions About SOTI MobiControl

Do you have a specific technical question or want to know how SOTI MobiControl performs within your existing hardware fleet? Below are the most frequently asked questions from our logistics and industrial clients. Don’t see your question listed? Our engineers are happy to work with you to find a tailored solution.

Does SOTI MobiControl support my older scanners?
Yes. SOTI MobiControl is one of the few platforms that supports both the latest Android Enterprise devices and legacy systems (such as Windows CE/Mobile) from a single dashboard.

Can I perform updates without disrupting operations?
Absolutely. Using “Maintenance Windows,” we schedule updates outside of shift hours, ensuring devices are always 100% ready for use when the next shift begins.

What happens if a device is lost?
With Geofencing and “Find My Device” features, we can track the device’s last known location. In the event of theft or permanent loss, the device can be remotely wiped (Remote Wipe) to protect your company data.

Can I manage scanner settings remotely?
Yes. Through OEMConfig profiles, we can centrally manage in-depth hardware settings without ever needing to physically handle the device.
